Doong Island

Isla Doong have also a world class delicacies that people all over the world would surely enjoy.. I only got a couple of them...

This is what we so called Manlot..

We are also proud of our Pusit.. it's local name is Nukus..

Fried danggit, one of the most popular delicacies in Isla Doong..

This is one of my favorite food in Doong and even here, this is usually our food when there's a typhoon because there is no one or there are only few fishermen who went to the sea to catch fish because of the strong current..

This is the position of Litob (a variety of seashell)

One of our bonding time is to picked some 'Litob' and 'Bug-atan (also a variety of seashell). We just boil it with water and then it's ready to eat..

Isla Doong have also scallops abundance...

"We called this 'Takab-takab' It's so delicious even if you don't add special seasoning to it.."

It's local name is "Saang". We just usually steamed this or boil this in water and then its done..

Doonganon's are also good in making or cooking world class lechon. Not just that where also good in making 'Dinuguan' (comes from the pig's intestines).

This is what we so called 'Lukot'.. We just simply steam this or just mix in a Sinigang and then its done..

Now we also focus on the wonderful scenery on different parts of Isla Doong...

This is the Famous Kanlawryo..where you can spent your summer vacation for free.. This is built for the enjoyment of the Doonganon's..

We called this 'Sakayan' commonly used by the fishermen in fishing or other events such as the birth of Saint John the Baptist (June 24)in which there are parade in the sea by small or big pumpboats..

This is just a piece of big rock located in the seashore of Looc (part of Doong). This was taken during low-tide..

Doong Island is also famous by its mangrove abundance, most of it are located in the east and west part of the island.

"When I was in high school, we even helped planting some of this in the north part of the island. It's just like a once in a lifetime experienced together with my classmates and friends"

This is where the people of Doong and Lipayran grow their 'Guso' plants (a variety of seaweed that grows in vines) and one of their main sources of income.. we call this 'Guso' Plantation...

"Most of the people in Doong as well as its neighboring island, have 'Guso Plantation'. But you cant guarantee that you will gain profit once this is your business, because it has major flaw co'z for example if there's typhoon, this will easily wash out by strong current.."

The Matabawong island: It is a small island located in the north part of Doong..There's no one lived in here and other says theres a lot of sea snakes here.. :)

Oldest house we found in Doong.. Located outside Doong Elementary School (Tunga, Doong, Bantayan, Cebu)..

When we are in elementary, we even experienced playing in the lower part of this house, together with my cousins and friends. Even now it is still existing but the people prohibit children to play or even go near to this house.

Doong National High School (also featuring my former schoolmates) also lacated at Tunga, Doong, Bantayan, Cebu.. just behind Doong Elementary School..

"This is the place where I spent four of my precious years in high school. I graduated here last 2007, the last time I heard about it, it is under renovation.."

The National Power Corporation (NaPoCor) is the main source of electricity in Doong Island as well as its surrounding islands (Botigues and Lipayran).

We often can't slept well at night because of the noise that comes from NaPoCor, but as time passes we already used to it..

This white building is the Doong Barangay Hall. Outside is the basketball court..

This is only a part of Doong Elementary SChool. This building is for grade 2 pupils..

This is also a part of Doong Elementary School for Home Economics Classes for grade 5 and grade 6 pupils..

Doong Elementary School is the place where my precious and meaningful life in childhood had spent. This photo was taken after graduation together with my cousin.
